Excited and scared...

Isn't that how it usually goes when venturing into the unknown? It seems as if my whole life has been a series of excited but afraid. And even though I've had both successes and failures, mostly failures, I still keep plugging along. This is my first post of my first blog, and boy do I have a lot of catching up to do! I spent this weekend in Detroit at the Russell Industrial Center's People's Art Festival, exhibiting and selling my hand dyed vintage clothing and lingerie line Dolly Rocker's Vintage And Hand Made. And although I've sold this line successfully in the past, I was counting on this show to make my rent... and this being my first PAF, I really didn't know how I'd be received. Talk about nerve racking! Ironically, I ended up making just enough for rent! It was the artist set up next to me first show ever! She told me how she cried the whole day before, and didn't think she could show up and display her work for fear of total failure and rejection... she ended up selling out! So, it just goes to show you that you can't and shouldn't let fear of failure hold you back... That being said, I hope you enjoy my blog. I'm just getting started...

  1. Awesome Cara! I should have read this before I commented on your Spacebook page. It's typical Cara; artist. You sense the sensibilities so many miss, and that becomes your art.

    Keep at it blondie!

    Me too.

That woman next to you was a dear too. And very talented. She started doing her art—by someone else discarding a bunch of canvases. Seems there is a moral in there somewhere.
